Last year, thrash architects Exodus celebrated 30 years since the release of their first album, thrash metal’s classic blueprint Bonded By Blood. Keeping with that tradition, Exodus was joined by their original guitarist, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, on their most recent release Blood In, Blood Out (2014). In its first week, Blood In, Blood Out doubled the first week sales of their most previous full-length release, in addition to securing their highest charting position ever – #38 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, as well as #2 on the Hard Rock/Metal chart and #6 on the Independent Albums chart. Blood In, Blood Out gained a strong foothold in European countries by topping several first-week international charts, as well as landing at #6 on Canada’s Hard Music chart. Viscerous is a Death Groove band from Omaha, NE formed in January of 2019 by founding member, lead guitarist and frontman Danjo Meatsack.
Since their early inception, the band wanted to have that old school thrash/death metal sound with a modern twist of groove and stoner metal.
Danjo found the other members through a local Facebook musician group in the Omaha/ Council Bluffs metro area. The first member to join was the original lead guitarist Bryan Bubacz. Following him was their current bassist Dalton Alexander and drummer Zach Dahlheimer.
In December 2022 the band parted ways with founding member Bryan Bubacz.
March 2023, new rhythm guitarist Kyle Sparbel joined the band returning it to a 4 piece.
Year one of Viscerous focused on building their sound by doing cover sets with some originals sprinkled in the sets.
They would perform a variety of covers from bands like The Rolling Stones to Alice in Chains and Corrosion of Conformity to Type O Negative to Metallica, Deftones and Static X.
2020 they wanted to work more on being an original band. They would still perform some covers every now and then and still do ‘til this day.
Just like every other band during that year. Things had to slow down quite a bit due to the Covid 19 pandemic. They played only 3 shows that year before most of the venues were heavily regulated with quarantine procedures. They decided to take that year’s down-time and work with a small local studio and attempt getting some tracks recorded. They recorded 3 demos through that studio from 2020-2021.
2021-2023 Viscerous started gaining speed by picking up bigger live events and different venues through the Midwest, opening for serveral national touring acts. For the last 2-3 years they’ve had the pleasure of opening up local and out of state shows for the bands Sleep Signals, Scattered Guts, Jungle Rot, Internal Bleeding, Warbringer, Heathen, Incite, Misfire, Knoll, Frail Body, Allegaeon, Arkaik, Aenimus, Summoning the Lych, Earth Groans, The Almas, 96 Bitter Beings, Skeletal Remains, Crypta, Uncured, Cognitive, Analepsy, Wormhole, Necroticgorebeast, and Bay area Thrash Metal Legends Death Angel.
The band Is due to play more shows this year opening for Seven Kingdoms, Aftertime, Abysmal Dawn, Visceral Disgorge, Reaping Asmodeia, Warforged and Canadian Tech Death band Cryptopsy.
Viscerous has one demo, and one EP titled “Supercell” available on all streaming platforms. The EP was released September of 2022. It’s a 5 track album recorded at K World Studios.
The band released their newest single “Death Cloud” on July 15th 2023. It is the first single from their upcoming full-length album “Eviscerate”.
